Mark Straub serves as Regional Vice President for Pennrose's Southeast Region and is responsible for all of Pennrose's development efforts in that geography. He originally joined Pennrose Properties in 2005 as the Senior Development Officer in the Southeast Region.  He is based in the firm’s Chattanooga, Tennessee office.  Mr. Straub participates in all aspects of the development of HOPE VI, Choice Neighborhoods, and mixed-finance developments as well as market-rate, affordable rental and for-sale housing – from project inception through completion.  With a wealth of prior experience in the field of real-estate development, he is particularly skilled in urban revitalization, construction project management, engineering, and contract management.

Having over 20 years’ experience in project and contract administration, management and experience in the housing industry specifically, Mr. Straub is considerably knowledgeable of the requirements needed for successful real estate development.  Prior to joining Pennrose, he served successively as the Director of Development for the housing authorities in Cincinnati, Youngstown, and Chattanooga.  He managed a combined $150 million in construction and development production.  He has participated in five HOPE VI redevelopment grants as well as a Choice Neighborhoods grant.

Mr. Straub has managed the award winning McCallie Homes – HOPE VI (The Villages at Alton Park), $78 million redevelopment effort.  This project involved 367 units (multi-family rental and homeownership) as well as an $11.5 million in infrastructure.  Through Mr. Straub’s efforts this project has been awarded two prestigious awards; the Chattanooga African American Chamber of Commerce – Advancement in Diversity Award, and the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Regional Planning Agency – Excellence Award.

Mr. Straub holds certifications in contract management from the University of Virginia, the National Contracts Management Association as a Certified Associate Contracting Manager (CACM).  He is a Certified Public Housing Manager.
