Little Lehigh was a public housing complex initially designed and constructed in the early 1970s. The entire complex consisted of 76 rental housing units operating under the Allentown Housing Authority’s public housing program. Over the last 50+ years, Little Lehigh had physically deteriorated and become inconsistent with modern housing standards. Building exteriors and interiors experienced significant wear and tear. In addition, the unit sizes were too small by modern standards and there was significant erosion on the site. The redevelopment of Little Lehigh addressed each of these issues and continued much-needed affordable housing near downtown Allentown.
Now known as Bridgeside Estates, the redevelopment included the demolition of nine existing structures and the new construction of five buildings plus a community building.
